Our Teachers

  Sarah Richàrd

Sarah is the director of Alley Bell Music. She teaches Music Together® Mixed Ages and Babies Only classes, and Private Voice. She earned a B.M. in Music Education from Western Washington University, and an M.M. in Voice Pedagogy from Texas Christian University. It was during her time at TCU that she was introduced to Music Together. She received her Music Together Teacher training in 2011 and her Level 1 Teacher Certification in 2017 from the co-author of Music Together, Lili Levinowitz.  Sarah has over ten years of experience teaching K-6 General Music for the Edmonds and Shoreline school districts, and has been teaching private voice for over 20 years. She is registered as a Community Based Instructor with the Quilcene School District’s P.E.A.R.L. Program, a homeschool learning program for K-8 students in Washington state. Prior to starting Alley Bell Music, Sarah was also on the music faculty at Shoreline Community College. Sarah performs locally as a professional soprano soloist, and is trained in both classical and musical theater technique. In addition to singing and teaching, Sarah also has a strong background in dance, and enjoys sharing her love of creative movement in her classes. She likes to joke that her life is filled with beautiful noise in and out of the classroom, as she is also the mother of two boisterous young boys, Josiah and Jamison.

Mariah has been teaching Mixed Ages Music Together classes at Alley Bell Music since Summer 2018, and also teaches our Beginning Ukulele Classes for children and adults. Mariah earned a BA in Music from Western Washington University, and completed her Music Together Teacher Training in April 2018. After finishing college, Mariah performed in many musical theatre productions in local Seattle theaters before moving to New York City in 2006. In New York she sang with an accomplished singer/songwriter all around Manhattan and just generally loved living there. Mariah also occasionally performs in the greater Seattle area with the chamber group, Vestr Singers, which is made up of a group of musicians she worked with at WWU, coincidentally, all of whom happen to be college friends of Alley Bell Music Director, Sarah Richàrd’s too! Mariah is Mom to a set of twin girls, and she spends a lot of time volunteering at their school and leading their Girl Scout troop when not singing, dancing and strumming with all of you!

Elizabeth is originally from Orlando, Florida & has been living in the Pacific Northwest since 2015. She teaches Music Together Mixed Ages and Music Together con Español. She earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance at Stetson University & her M.M. at the University of Michigan School of Music Theatre and Dance. She completed her Music Together Teacher Training in October, 2018.  In addition to teaching classes at Alley Bell Music, Elizabeth is a professional opera singer and a private voice teacher. In the Fall of 2019, Elizabeth made her Seattle Opera debut, performing the role of Toledo in the new American opera: The Falling and the Rising. She has also been a featured soloist with Symphony Tacoma & Tacoma Concert Band. Elizabeth has always loved music and children, so when her friend introduced her to Music Together, she knew she needed to be a part of the magic. Elizabeth is fluent in Spanish and has a black belt in Karate. She is thrilled to be teaching at Alley Bell Music!

Ashley is the director of Music Together Panorama in British Columbia, Canada. She is delighted to be joining forces with Alley Bell Music to bring Rhythm Kids Online to both centers during this time of virtual learning!

Ashley has been teaching Music Together since completing her teacher training in the summer of 2011 and summer of 2017 she completed her certification level 1 as well. Ashley loves music and has been singing since before she could talk, she plays piano and is working on learning the ukelele. She has a degree in History and French from Simon Fraser University. As well as being a musician and a teacher Ashley is a mom to 4 kids of her own ranging from toddler to 5th grader! Ashley has been a choral singer since she was a child and continues her love for that music by singing with the world renowned Elektra Women's Choir in Vancouver, BC.

Jessica is delighted to be offering private piano lessons at Alley Bell Music. She has been teaching for over 20 years. Jessica is dedicated to developing her students into well-rounded, expressive, confident musicians who enjoy playing. Her teaching philosophy includes personalized lessons with technique, theory, performance/listening skills, ear-training and sight-reading. She values her relationship with students and has a genuine interest in and commitment to teaching piano, regardless of age or ability. 

In 2010, Jessica was awarded the Music Teachers National Association’s STAR award for outstanding academic, teaching and leadership achievement. She is an active performer in the Twin Cities and Seattle areas. 

Jessica holds a B.M. In piano performance from Western Washington University, an M.M in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University, an M.M. in Collaborative Piano from the University of Oregon, and a D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano and Coaching from the University of Minnesota. To schedule lessons with Jessica, please email Jessicaschroederpianist@gmail.com.

Rowena Morgan is pleased to be a guest teacher at Alley Bell Music, teaching private recorder lessons virtually from her studio in California. She has a Music Degree from Glasgow University in Scotland and trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Great Britain. Rowena plays flute, piano, recorder and drums and has performed and taught both privately and in schools to students of all ages. Mark Lewis is our DJ in residence! As a long time Music Together Dad and parent of four children, Mark can be trusted to create a high energy, FUN kid-friendly dance party.  All parties are hosted on Zoom, and are 30 minutes long.
